Dress Code

DRESS CODE

Apparel can be purchased at local retailers such as Old Navy, Walmart or Carters.

 

The dress code at St. Catherine of Siena consists of the following:

 

TOPS:

▪ A navy or white, short sleeved or long-sleeved collared shirt or blouse

▪ A plain white, long-sleeved button-up shirt

▪ A plain white or navy long-sleeved turtleneck shirt

▪ St Catherine of Siena Rugby Shirt

▪ Solid navy, zippered fleece or solid navy, hooded sweatshirt (red spirit sweater is not uniform)

*All the preceding should be logo free or be crested with the approved logo only.

 

BOTTOMS:

▪ Navy or khaki uniform like pants (no yoga or track style pants permitted)

▪ Walking shorts (mid-thigh length), skorts and rompers

 

SKIRTS

▪ Tights, leggings, or athletic shorts must be worn under skirts or dresses.

 

FDK-Grade 3 Students:

  • Plain navy or khaki sweatpants
  • FDK students only – plain navy or white t-shirt

 

Modifications to the components of the school dress code will be deemed to comply with the school dress code policy where necessary, to accommodate students with special needs. From time-to-time spirit wear will be available for purchase through School Cash Online. Students who choose to not adhere to the dress code or dress inappropriately will be advised and will have to change their clothes. If necessary, a parent will be called to arrange a change of clothing.

 

DRESS DOWN DAYS

These will be the last Friday of the month, and at all school related activities where uniforms are not required, students are expected to adhere to the following dress code:

▪ Promotes a Catholic learning environment that is consistent with the Ontario Catholic Schools

▪ Uses criteria of safety considerations, maintenance of proper decorum, cleanliness, neatness, appropriateness in relation to activity

▪ Includes prohibitions around clothing that promotes alcohol, drugs or illegal activities, or clothing with messages or pictures printed or drawn, in any language, that is related to any harassment of any individual because of race, ethnic origin, religion, creed, disability, gender or sexual orientation (e.g. Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, racism, homophobia, and transphobia).

 

DRESS DOWN DAYS, SPIRIT DAYS AND THEME DAYS

Dress Down Days: Please see note above regarding proper attire for Dress Down Days. Dress Down Days will be the last Friday of the Month

Spirit Days: Spirit days will be the 2nd Friday of the month. Students will be allowed to wear red / blue Spirit wear sweaters, long-sleeved shirts or t-shirts. Students are to still wear appropriate dress code pants.

 ▪ Theme Days: These will be approximately 1 per month and will be communicated to the school community via SchoolMessenger and calendar updates. Theme days will celebrate holidays, special days, cultural days or days planned by Student Parliament.
